therefore, if you have some strong opinions or suggestions about it, i most likely will not consider them. i am open to bug reports or suggestions, but i will not be making overhauls or large changes to this script (unless it has to do with performance or underlying improvements, these are very welcome).

a userscript that applies a custom frosted glass theme and interface tweaks to chatgpt. it modifies background, navigation, and composer elements for a cleaner and more visually distinct layout.

features:

  • replaces the default background with the chatgpt-5 launch image (customizable via script variables)
  • applies frosted glass effects to the message composer, sidebar, and navigation areas
  • removes default scroll fade effects and some other unnecessary visual overlays
  • adds a dynamic glow ring around the message composer that reacts to cursor position and during streaming text
  • supports custom header image in the sidebar’s top section
  • improves hover and focus states with subtle animations and lighting effects
  • optional hiding/blurring of profile, history, and project information (toggle in script settings)
  • automatically reapplies styles after dom changes such as temporary chat toggling, navigation updates, or composer re-rendering
  • lightweight mutation observers ensure styles persist without excessive performance impact
